Licensed Massage Therapist
While attending Des Moines Area Community College and discerning next steps in her education, a close family friend, who happens to be a licensed massage therapist for over 20 years, was prompted one day to pick up the phone and share how she thought Moe had a natural skill set that would lend itself well to being a great massage therapist. She detailed some of Moe's physical and personality attributes that would dovetail nicely with a career in massage, including Moe's rhythmic abilities she observed while watching Moe drum. This affirmation served as the catalyst to pursue massage therapy as a career. Thank you, Andrea!
What have Andrea and others seen in Moe? Moe has many inherent qualities you want in your massage therapist - qualities that are deep rooted and inborn and things you can't teach a person. She innately values meaningful touch in her own life and personally relates to its therapeutic nature. Along with that, her compassion and gifts of encouragement help you enjoy Moe's fruit bearing hands.
Moe has an associates degree from DMACC and has completed coursework at Body Wisdom School of Massage Therapy in Urbandale, Iowa. She has training in both Swedish and Therapeutic Massage, with additional hours training specific to Orthopedic and Sports Massage modalities. Moe has passed the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination and obtained her Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) designation in the state of Iowa. She is also a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.
Most recently, Moe returned to the classroom for intensive training on massage for patients with cancer or a history of cancer. Oncology massage is the modification of existing massage therapy techniques in order to safely work with complications of cancer and cancer treatment. Moe has completed advanced training in Oncology massage and has applied for membership with the Society for Oncology Massage.
